My name is Mohammad Rushdi. I am a father of eight children from Gaza, Palestine, and today I am writing to you not just as a parent, but as a human being desperate to save his family. Our lives have been shattered by war, illness, and unimaginable loss. For the past eight years, I have battled a chronic, inherited blood disorder that causes both life-threatening clots and severe bleeding. Every day, I need two injections just to survive, but now, because of the war and the blockade, these medicines are almost impossible to find. When they are available, their prices have soared to more than double what I used to pay. My illness has left me unable to work, and my family has no source of income. Our suffering grew even worse when our home was completely destroyed in an airstrike. In a single moment, everything we had—our furniture, our clothes, our children’s toys, our family photos, and all the memories we built together—was reduced to rubble. We lost not just our house, but the place that held our dreams and gave us a sense of safety. My eldest son, Haitham, was shot in his right leg during the violence. He is still in pain, unable to walk properly, and we cannot afford the medical care he needs for his recovery. Now, we are homeless. We live in a small tent that barely shields us from the scorching summer sun. The heat is unbearable, and the tent offers no real protection. There is no electricity, no clean water, and no privacy.
