About the Cause
Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
My Story
Adopt a Library is an empowering initiative dedicated to increasing literacy rates in India. With recent statistics revealing significant gender disparities, this project targets the deeply rooted issues of cultural bias, gender discrimination, and safety concerns that disproportionately affect females, particularly in secondary education. Through collaboration with Dubai Cares and Room to Read, we aim to establish libraries in Mumbai, New Delhi, or Hyderabad. These libraries will not only provide essential educational resources but also foster a culture of reading, opening horizons and building a brighter future for the next generation. Our Story: As a member of the HSBC UAE Youth Council, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that education can have on individuals and communities. Our commitment to sustainability and community development drives us to address the pressing issue of illiteracy in India. By joining forces with Dubai Cares and Room to Read, we believe we can make a tangible difference. Education is the key to unlocking potential and creating a domino effect of positive change. Through the Adopt a Library initiative, we aim to provide safe, welcoming spaces where young minds can explore the world of knowledge. Together, we can empower the next generation, build a brighter future, and contribute to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education.
