Expired

We are students from GEMS Dubai American Academy, we would like to fundraise money for monsoon relief (or another Dubai Cares operation) through Dubai Cares. All proceeds will go to the Dubai Cares organization, we will use no money for any personal project; any money we gather at the school will go to Dubai Cares.

Health and Nutrition

AED 10,000.00

About the Cause

Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.

In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

My Story

My name is Ayaan. I am a 16-year-old, Indian American High School Student. Every year, my family and I travel to Bhopal, a small city in India. When I was young, I never really understood the concept of poverty and the difficulties that people had to face in developing countries. As I have gotten older, I have become more perceptive to the realities of the world and how many, if not most people in the world do not have the opportunities that have been given to me. In my last two trips to Bhopal, the monsoon season was very harsh, the lightning was turning on the lights in the house and the roof felt like it would cave in. I want to help those affected by monsoons by fundraising in my school and sending all proceeds to the Dubai Cares Organization for their operations (even if that is not necessarily monsoon relief).
