About the Cause
Dubai Cares is a UAE‑based global philanthropic organization working to provide children and youth in developing countries with access to quality education.
Feed A Child, Build A Kitchen is Dubai Cares’ Ramadan fundraising campaign that supports school meals through community kitchens, helping children learn, creating dignified livelihoods, and strengthening local food systems in a sustainable way.
Kicking off in Kenya’s Embu County, where classroom hunger remains a major barrier to education, each community kitchen will provide 76,000 nutritious meals annually to 400 early learners across 21 rural schools, helping children arrive at school ready to learn. Beyond nutrition, each kitchen will create approximately 164 local jobs, mostly for women, support local farmers through local sourcing, reduce environmental impact through clean energy solutions, and offer a scalable model for strengthening education systems and communities across Sub‑Saharan Africa.
My Story
My name is Nasar Yaqoob. Last year, I married a strong woman who had already faced many hardships. She is divorced and a mother of two children whose father left them. When we decided to marry, many people warned her, saying, “He will leave you one day.” But she trusted me. She believed in me when others did not. With savings and hope, we came to the UAE in October to start a business and build a better future. We opened a company, but sadly the business did not succeed. I immediately began searching for work, attending many interviews, but every time I heard, “Sorry” and “Unfortunately.” In desperation, I trusted recruitment agencies that promised jobs. Three times I paid money, and three times I was cheated. They disappeared, and my savings slowly finished. Today, I am struggling to manage rent and care for my family. The heaviest burden is not financial — it is the fear of breaking the trust of the woman who chose me despite all doubts. I cannot let her feel abandoned again. I am ready to work hard and rebuild, but right now I need support to stabilize our situation. In this blessed month, Ramadan Kareem, your kindness can protect a family and restore hope. Any help will mean more than words can express.
