Gender equality is a cross-cutting theme in all Dubai Cares’ education programs with an approach that aims to secure equal access for boys and girls to safe learning environments with adequate facilities, materials and academic support from gender sensitized teachers and communities.
My Story
Many times during my holidays, I have seen child labour and beggary.This pathetic situation made me think more about education of children especially of girls.The research on the statistics of girls education all around the world was strange.I happened to read about the noble prize winner Malala Yousafsai who was shot only because of her battle for girls education.Society has always looked upon the girl child as inferior to the boy child. Religions, culture, and to a certain extent, vested interests have supported this stand. It is against these age-old barriers that she has to fight. Education for empowerment is a challenging issue in the underdeveloped counties. When poverty becomes a threat, the girl child is confined to the hearth, while the boy child who is fed to be the stronger bread winner of the family, is conferred the honour of education. Without education, she cannot dream of economic independence and never ideological acknowledgement.she loses her voice. Then how is she going to express her disappointment. Her potential can be used only within the four walls of the house. Education can come to her help here. There are a lot of opportunities for the girl child to find an income even within the confine sof her home. With a sound technological knowledge and updated information she can, to a certain extent manage to earn from her home. Thus education helps to Empower the girl child and contribute her share in empowering the world.
