About the Cause

Gender equality is a cross-cutting theme in all Dubai Cares’ education programs with an approach that aims to secure equal access for boys and girls to safe learning environments with adequate facilities, materials and academic support from gender sensitized teachers and communities.

My Story

Single mothers are more and more vulnerable and then they reached here in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya where they lose hope of a bright future and have no destiny since they are not educated and one to support or help them. As consequence, they have been for many times victims of unlawful torture, sexually abused, defiled, forced labor, forced prostitution, sexual exploitation, unwanted pregnancies, discrimination by some of their communities where sexual transmitted diseases result. Many single mothers who are engaged in prostitution and other sexual practices most of them are due to the lack of support, poor education background, and poor social lives in order to meet their basic needs. Refugees that are living in Kakuma refugee camp, single mothers are facing the first hardship due to lack of skills and others to really cope up with the realities of life in the new country asylum, we are then testifying that sewing and tailoring training skills are the very first step to follow and the ability to freely help them get a job or self-employed for some as a part of the solutions to their problems and m a little solution of incoming generating activities After analyzing the problem affecting refugees and single mothers,s in particular, sewing and tailoring training centers and caring programs for them will be an added advantage of decreasing stresses and have a self-dependency.
