About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
Uganda has got a new COVID-19 wave with different Variants. It’s believed that the 3 variants from South Africa, UK and India have hit the country, registering new cases in death and infections. This has led to serious observation of SOPS and total lockdown of 42 days. Unlike the previous lockdown, where the rich donated food relief to the vulnerable people living in urban areas, this time, it might be different as the virus is leading to " one man for himself, God for us all saying" because everyone is saving his/her resources to cater for the hospital bills just in case he or she or relative contracts the virus. The treatment of Covid in Private hospitals per day in Uganda is at $1414.The government hospitals are overwhelmed by the numbers and can no longer be able to manage the treatment alone. All the support in health sector has been directed to Covid 19 leaving others with no provisions of being addressed as health challenges. The lockdown has left the informal sector exhausted, with no way of working leading to starvation of the people, Increased domestic violence cases, Early marriages and unwanted pregnancies as well as sexual abuse and immorality among teenagers. For sure Uganda needs combined and international support. The funds will be directly used to procure food for the vulnerable families, including soap and masks for a health living and protection from further contraction of the virus.
