About the Cause

Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:

Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.

Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.

Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.

My Story

Graduated from secondary education, I always wanted to train in the medical sector. But being already fatherless and for lack of means I was never able to realize this dream. Currently I have been living in Dubai for 2 years with my husband and we have lost everything here due to COVID 19 due to which my husband lost his job and I gave birth to our second child by caesarean section. I am not covered by any insurance. We sold all our property in Cameroon, even the plot of land we owned to be able to pay hospital costs. We no longer have anything at all in Cameroon even if we had to think of returning to the country. We are parents of 2 children and the burden of rent for their care is very heavy for us. My husband often finds work in the hotel industry but each time he is disqualified because of the visas which have expired since September 2020. We financed a nursing care assistant training in 2021 which I completed and obtained the average at the final exam, but we got cheated because the institute in question did not issue me a recognized certificate. We only survive. I managed to land an interview for the position of caregiver and the employer told me that he was ready to employ me and help me clear my overstay fines if I ever presented him with my certificate. Please help me I need this this certificate to get us all out of here.
