About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
The need for secondary education for all children is seen to be a vital drive that gave parents a go forward to establish the school using the meager resources they had at hand. Contributions were raised by concerned parents and the community and 12 acres of land were acquired for the establishment of future infrastructure at the school. Presently Kalabaydh has over 300 students completing middle school that don’t have a secondary school to attend. Every year Kalabaydh middle schools produce 300-400 students that try to travel to other towns to study if the families are able to support them financially however majority of them do not go to high schools. There are many students which are left out, yet they are orphans and others are needy students who cannot afford the requirements and school fees of other secondary schools in the major cities of Sool and Sanaag.
