My Story

Hello, my name is Yoseph Kibret Teferra, a Canadian national currently in Dubai, the UAE. I recently returned to Ethiopia after many years and was amazed by the commendable progress it has gone through over the years and also struck by the challenging conditions people continue to face. The population has tripled since I left Ethiopia decades ago and it is a very common and widespread scene to see swarm of commuters waiting for taxis in several city block long lines for several hours whilst the taxis have camped at the gas stations in miles long lines for fuel for days - it's a public transportation crisis primarily caused by fuel shortage. The proliferation of electric vehicles in these communities is greater urgency to the people and paramount importance to the environment. Taxi drivers wait in queue for 3 days to fuel their vehicles for 1 day work. Drivers I spoke to have serious plan to change to electric vehicles which they would charge at home during their idle hours. Governments have various incentives and tax breaks towards electric vehicle ownerships and many taxi owners are on the edge to jump in. The need and the urgency are there. Mela solutions will provide total sustainable transportation eco-system solutions, from electric Rickshaws to electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) or colloquially called EV chargers and charge point operators (CPO) solutions, technology enabled access control and payment processing. The UAE with its unwavering commitment to sustain
