The MAMITO acronym is in Swahili, Mama Mimi na Mtoto, meaning mother and a child. This Project is meant to support Young Mothers. Global Vision Achievers decided to launch a project to address this issue by building a center for girls in the slum with the aim to provide high school Education for duration of maximum 3 years.

About the Cause

Gender equality is a cross-cutting theme in all Dubai Cares’ education programs with an approach that aims to secure equal access for boys and girls to safe learning environments with adequate facilities, materials and academic support from gender sensitized teachers and communities.

My Story

In Kibera young girls of the ages 13-20 years get children but this issue is not addressed. A large number of girls from the Kibera slums are dropping out of schools as a result of this. This campaign touched my heart because everyone deserves a chance to get an education. And it is only by reaching out to like minded individuals who want to be stewards of the change we want to see in the world, that we can work together to challenge such unjust issues.
