About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
My wife and I lived here in the UAE for more than 7 years. My wife got pregnant in the year 2020 right in midst of the pandemic. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on the 11th of February 2021, just two days before my birthday. She was the greatest gift I have received. During the first few months, we have already noticed her eyes rolling a lot. At times, it rolls inwards and does not follow any light source which was of concern to us. At 3 and a half months, we brought her to a pediatrician and she said her eye are not reacting to light. It was the first heartbreak we had. Tears ran through our eyes as we heard the news and she wants to refer us to a specialist. We decided to go to a pediatric ophthalmologist to get her eyes examined. They checked her eye with Ultra Sound which made her cry a lot, making her parents cry as well. Every test is like a squeeze at our chest making it a little hard to breathe. One of the worst that I have experienced in my opinion is the MRI because you can see your baby getting sedated and scared surrounded by people that she is not familiar. She is wearing this hospital gown, a hairnet, and sleeping in a hospital bed. The squeeze in the chest is getting tighter. How much more if she is going to an operation? How much more can we take? We just want our baby to live life to the fullest and hopefully can at least see her parent's face.
