About the Cause
Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
My Story
My name is Abdullah Alwarasna, and my quest for knowledge takes me not just through the halls of Bethlehem University, but across the rugged terrain of the West Bank. As a third-year accounting student at this esteemed Lasallian Christian university, I'm scaling mountains of numbers and chasing horizons of opportunity. But unlike most students, my climb comes with an added challenge: the stark reality of limited resources. Growing up in this war-torn landscape, opportunities for stable income are scarce. Yet, the fire of education burns bright within me. In my first two years, I conquered academic peaks, earning dean's last -first level honor- with every semester. Now, as the winds of doubt whisper my anxieties, I stand at a critical juncture. The second semester approaches, yet my university fees remain a formidable obstacle. Each day feels like a precarious perch, the threat of falling behind a constant shadow. But I refuse to let the circumstances dictate my destiny. My dream of becoming an accountant, of contributing to the economic fabric of my community, is too precious to abandon. It's not just about securing a future for myself, but about building a bridge of hope for others. This is where your support comes in. Every contribution, big or small, becomes a hand that helps me on my ascent. It fuels my determination, strengthens my resolve, and paves the path towards achieving my academic goals.
