About the Cause
Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
My Story
Assalamu Alaikum, Ashrafunnisa Edusports Academy is a free-of-cost school for underprivileged children in Murshidabad District, one of the most backward districts in India (Sachar Committee Report). The school is an initiative by Islampur Grassroot Level Football & Environment Welfare Society (IGLFEWS). The society is recognized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Golden Baby League. The vision of Ashrafunnisa EduSports Academy is to achieve quality & excellence in education, sports, & the environment & to support socially & economically disadvantaged children in our area. Children are learning under the trees, playing together, & joining h&s towards a better society & environment. Adopting the principle of equality, fairness, & transparency, we follow a holistic approach to developing children both cognitively & physically by engaging them in education & sports together. We also engage children in different social & environmental activities to make them ‘Aware Citizens’. Hence, Children at Ashrafunnisa Edusports Academy study together & play football & other sports activities together. They observe plant trees. They walk on the street to raise social & environmental awareness. We have Eight (5 Males; 6 Females) Teachers, & one (1) non-teaching staff. Currently, we have 53 students comprising Class V (13 students) Class VI (22 students) We have two classrooms under tin sheds.
