Mission Machar Maro is a not for profit project aimed to address the prevalence of dengue across Pakistan. 52,894 cases and 224 deaths were reported in 2021- who knows how many unreported cases there were? Through distributing dengue care packs in villages, Mission Machar Maro is a step in the right direction.

About the Cause

Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.

In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

My Story

Living in Dubai makes you realise how fortunate you are to have access to amazing healthcare and the prevalence of diseases is low. As a Pakistani who lives in such privilege, I feel I have a duty to help a country which does not have the same quality of healthcare as Dubai and where there is high mortality due to preventable diseases like dengue. Due to COVID-19, the dengue epidemic has been very ignored, and as a result there has been many unreported deaths. Dengue is a disease I feel could be eradicated through awareness and prevention, and that is what I strive to do. I am a student that is interested in public health and would like to pursue public health and sciences in the future as a career.
