About the Cause
Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
My Story
This is the largest population living below the International Poverty Line of $1.90. This means that one in three of the world's poor live in India. It may seem a problem distinct from education. But, to put things into perspective, 40% of India's 1.25 billion citizens are below the age of 20. One doesn't have to be a statistician to infer that a large section of the population is young and poor. Let's take a step back and broadly define poverty as the deprivation of opportunities that enhance human capabilities to lead an acceptable standard of life. While commonly regarded from an economic perspective, poverty doesn't simply mean a lack of money. It can be a poverty of a shelter, a poverty of health, a poverty of education or a poverty of any other basic need. It is a complex concept that takes into account a number of socioeconomic, cultural and demographic factors. A poverty of any of the above puts a strain on income poverty We are a children's charity committed to ending the global education crisis and unleashing the potential of the next generation Our dream is to provide Free and quality education to all children aged between 6 and 20 These children yearn to learn. Through a combination of informal education, skill development, co-curricular activities and regular meals, these children can build a solid foundation and can then merge into formal systems of education
