About the Cause

Dubai Cares is a UAE‑based global philanthropic organization working to provide children and youth in developing countries with access to quality education.

Feed A Child, Build A Kitchen is Dubai Cares’ Ramadan fundraising campaign that supports school meals through community kitchens, helping children learn, creating dignified livelihoods, and strengthening local food systems in a sustainable way.

Kicking off in Kenya’s Embu County, where classroom hunger remains a major barrier to education, each community kitchen will provide 76,000 nutritious meals annually to 400 early learners across 21 rural schools, helping children arrive at school ready to learn. Beyond nutrition, each kitchen will create approximately 164 local jobs, mostly for women, support local farmers through local sourcing, reduce environmental impact through clean energy solutions, and offer a scalable model for strengthening education systems and communities across Sub‑Saharan Africa.

My Story

MY Story Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream on a full stomach. In Nyamira County, many children attending ECDE schools come from vulnerable households where access to nutritious meals is not guaranteed. Hunger remains a major barrier to school attendance, concentration, health, and overall academic performance. As the Executive Director of **Empowered Citizenry Against Poverty (ECAP) NGO**, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by young learners who arrive at school hungry and are expected to learn throughout the day. I have also seen schools without adequate kitchen facilities, making it difficult to provide safe and nutritious meals to children. This reality inspired us to launch the **Enhanced School Health Initiative (ESHI)**, a pilot Homegrown School Feeding Program that will provide nutritious meals and construct school kitchens in 30 selected ECDE primary schools across Nyamira County. The initiative is designed not only to feed children but also to strengthen local food systems by sourcing produce from local farmers, creating a sustainable cycle of community development. To me, this campaign is more than a feeding program—it is an investment in the future of our children and our county. A healthy child is more likely to attend school regularly, perform better academically, and grow into a productive member of society. By providing meals and improving school infrastructure, we are giving children hope and dignity
