About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
I am humbly writing this for my friend Lennard, who's father was rushed in the hospital due to heart attack. His fathers visa was cancelled by his company on September 10 2021 and he was rushed in the hospital on September 14 2021. The insurance company did not cover the hospital bill. On Sept 18, his father was discharged in Rashid hospital but with a condition that he will be issuing a check amounting 41,613 AED to be paid on or before Dec 30 2021. My friends salary could not be able to cover the amount as he is working as a waiter one of the fastfood here in UAE with a low salary. He is the only one who works in his family, and at his very young age, 22, he is now experiencing a big financial crisis already because of what happened. In order for the hospital bill not to increase and for him to have his father send back to Philippines to monitor his heart condition with his family, I decided to issue a post dated cheque even though I know in my heart that I don't have that money as well in my bank. I know some may say that it is a silly action for me, but I did it because I see him as my brother eventhough we are not blood related.
