About the Cause

Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.

In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

My Story

Hi. I’m Saqlain, the other half of Ken and Saqlain. Ken has stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Monday he lost the use of his legs. One of the tumors is pressing on the nerves. He’s maybe eating 100 calories a day and he’s down to 130 pounds. Ken missed his deadline to get his Medicare part D, so we have to pay out of pocket for any medication (except for the Wonder Drug, Xtandi, that the manufacturer is supplying). Most recently his doctor prescribed an injection that costs $2,000 each. His meds are about $600 each month. We don’t know what all the medication in the hospital is going to be. Our understanding is that his medical care is covered, but not the drugs. He’s going to need assisted care for at least 2 weeks once he’s discharged from the hospital. He’ll need a small wheelchair and some other assistive devices once he comes home. We’ll need to have someone come help me with his care. So, that’s our story. Anything will be appreciated. please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
