About the Cause
Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
My Story
In Thanjavur, a small community organization began planting seeds of change—Dr. Gordon Memorial Trust. It started with a simple belief: every child and every woman deserves safety, education, and dignity. What began as small home visits and awareness sessions slowly grew into a movement that touched hundreds of lives. Over the years, the Trust became known for standing beside those who often felt unseen—school dropouts, struggling mothers, anxious adolescents, and families unsure of how to cope with modern challenges. Through programs on child safety, women’s empowerment, health, and mental well-being, DGMT became more than an organization; it became a source of hope. When the Trust visited Thiruneermalai, they saw children whose dreams were overshadowed by poverty and lack of guidance. Many were bright but burdened, eager to learn but pushed away by circumstances. DGMT decided to act. They created learning centers filled with books, colors, and encouragement. Children who once hesitated to attend school began returning with confidence. Workshops on nutrition, life skills, gender equality, and emotional resilience shaped them into stronger individuals. Parents, too, became part of the journey—learning to protect, support, and celebrate their children’s growth. Today, Dr. Gordon Memorial Trust stands as a gentle force of change, proving that when a community is guided with love, knowledge, and vision, its children can rise, dream, and build a brighter tomorrow.
