About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
Over one million refugees live in Uganda making it the third largest refugee hosting country in Africa. Refugee children are most likely to experience trauma or violence specially with the language barrier. In both refugee and host communities, children are facing barriers in accessing education. Girls tend to drop out-of-school earlier than boys. Reasons include teenage pregnancy, early marriage, distance to schools and fear of SGBV on route to school, and social norms of prioritizing the education for boys over girls. We are raising funds to help support girls’ education in developing countries. AED 700 can provide one child with improved access to quality education for one school year. We will be encouraging Mace people; employees, clients, supply chain partners, family, and friends to support us in our fundraising efforts by taking part in challenges or simply donating to our campaign page. Collectively we need to raise a total of AED 100,000 to provide education for around 140 girls through Constructing new, or improving existing school facilities and Empowering girls through school clubs which address issues on hygiene management and gender based violence Our partnership with Dubai Cares has been successful for the past years and together we have we’ve helped build and operate schools in Nepal, Malawi, South Eastern Africa and Cambodia, South-East Asia. These schools will support thousands of children and adults with inclusive and equitable quality education.
