About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
The village or the community is poor, there is no water and no electricity. Developments in these remote villages like Jarra Barro Kunta are not easy; because they are excluded from the normal standard of living for our terms. That several school children were bitten by snakes in the toilets and this led to death and portrayal of the rats in part to the school children grab, made us understand the urgent need for this project! The existing school was completely down about lack of money, the money for renovation was not available in the community. DNPG has now completely renovated the old school and built a small new school. We have now risen from 128 students to 260, the children do not sit at home but attend now school. At the request of the school management and the municipal council, DNPG took the initiative to change this intolerable situation of the existing bush toilets. And now calls on donors to help us financially, because only when this embarrassing situation of the existing toilets is replaced by a new building and completed, we can all say this project has now been completed with good succes. Thanks for you help !
