Dubai Cares’ programs are designed to reduce, if not remove, the greatest obstacles that prevent children and young people in developing countries from attaining quality education. With each intervention, Dubai Cares evaluates the need for assistance across two key areas:
Access to Education which allows Dubai Cares to improve children’s health and learning environment, increase education enrollment and attainment, increase access to education, reduce absenteeism, increase gender parity and increase promotion rates.
Quality of Education which enables early learning, enhances educational attainment and school progression, improves literacy and numeracy skills among children, enables teachers to access teacher training resulting in better learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates and increase primary school attainment.
Dubai Cares is a long-term advocate of safeguarding children and young people’s right to education and is currently playing a global advocacy role in spreading the knowledge about the importance of providing education to the unprivileged children.
We also champion education through research - There is an overwhelming lack of evidence as to what works to promote children’s learning in crisis-affected contexts. Research plays a pivotal role in tackling this issue.
“Anything is Possible” - the mantra of Ironman – a series of long-distance triathlon races. I love the message and believe it’s not only a great mantra in sports but in life. As education is the foundation for any change, I race to support educational projects for children in developing countries. As I race, I (unofficially) dedicate it to a friend, a dream, or even a stranger. It’s easy to give up when it’s about me, not so easy when it’s about someone else. And don’t get me wrong, an Ironman is pretty hard (this one: Ironman Florida is 3.8km of swimming, 180km of cycling and 42.2km of running) - I could quit many times! It’s not only the race but the months of training and build-up to the event, which isn’t always a ride in the park – physically, emotionally and mentally – it's a roller-coaster of emotions, energy and motivation. Transitioning from a corporate environment to an entrepreneur and coach is also pretty hard. It confirms again how important and fundamental any kind of “training” is to chase our dreams, improve skills and gain expertise to be better and to add more value to our communities. I had some of the best teachers and coaches, and I hope mine and your contribution will help someone else with the change they desire and the education they need. No amount is too “small” to make a difference in someone else's life. Thank you very much and see you at the finish line!
