Children around the world are faced by challenging stressful times posed by the COVID 19 pandemic. While many continue to cope and adapt to the new normal, I cannot help but think of all the refugee children who are victimized by conflicts, disasters and added hostility with the current disruptive times.

About the Cause

Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.

In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

My Story

In the words of Nelson Mandela, " Children are our greatest treasure. They are our future." My name is Zainab and just like many of you, I've been trying to seek answer to the most reflected on question of what our individual purpose in life is and how we can contribute in making this world a little less of a daunting place especially for vulnerable children in war torn nations. Working in healthcare for the past five years, realizing the importance of mental wellbeing has been the biggest revelation. While children and adults in developed countries have easy access to receiving support from councelors, therapists to help them in their healing journeys, refugee children are battling the war silently without any aid or a listening ear. Through this campaign and fundraiser, the aim is to provide these children with tools that will be vital in the fight against mental health issues. Helping them understand their emotions early can have a powerful impact on current and future development. Join me as we collectively make a difference !
