About the Cause
Poor health and nutrition negatively affect children’s school attendance and ability to learn. We implement school feeding programs that look for alternative ways to ensure sustainable supply of nutritious foods to school children and young people in urban and marginalized areas.
In addition, contaminated water and poor sanitation are big factors that result in the death of children worldwide. In our programs, we always include what is called WASH which means Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. This is done through the design and construction of child-friendly and gender sensitive facilities for sanitation, such as latrines and hand-washing stations. We also provide clean water supply by building water wells and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
My Story
SCF is a registered organisation and has an MOU with the economic affairs Division-EAD with 15 years’ experience in quality education, advocacy, and service delivery for improving the access of underprivileged children to quality education. SCF provided the missing infrastructure, created a learning environment, and provided immediate support for their health and nutrition in rural areas of Sindh. According to UNOCHA, Sindh is adversely affected by floods in schools' infrastructure. Schools are converted into camps and destroyed their infrastructure. In Sanghar district, 70% of schools have been drowned or have been negatively impacted by their washrooms, water sources, and hand washing facilities. PDMA confirmed 5588 malaria cases with another 100,604 suspected cases, in addition to the 177,977 diarrhea and 220,064 skin disease cases reported on Thursday. Some 2.3 million patients have been treated. There is a dire need to rehabilitate the flood affected primary schools of District Sanghar for the restoration of the education of 9800 schoolchildren in District Sanghar. In flood 2010, SCF already implemented WASH projects with schools and the community, and renovated science labs, school washrooms, and school children's health and hygiene.
