About the Cause
Teachers need quality training to provide quality education. With the support of our implementing partners and curriculum experts, we are training a generation of teachers that can influence, even with limited resources, children and young people’s ability to learn and prosper.
My Story
Teachers are key in tackling the learning crisis in Africa. They are role models for the children, they inspire them, build their confidence and make learning attractive. For many children, their teachers are their only source of basic knowledge and skills. That is why the organization Edukans and our program Teaching with impact puts teachers first! Education empowers children for a better future, but if they are not learning they miss the competencies to shape their lives and contribute to society. Children who are already disadvantaged will learn the least. Weak teaching practices, low-quality teacher training and a lack of learning and writing materials are at the root of this ‘learning crisis’. Many education systems pay little attention to what teachers know and what they do in the classroom. It is therefore very urgent for Edukans to equip teachers in a good way to ensure they can effectively teach and involve children in their own learning process, in order to tackle this learning crisis. Results of Teaching with impact are significant increase of teaching quality, improved learning outcomes and reduced drop out rates for marginalized children. Our ambition with Teaching With Impact is to reach 4 million children and over 60.000 teachers with quality education by 2025! And this ambition starts with teaching the first 500 teachers by you!
