About the Cause
My Story
Youth in Buchosa and Sengerema districts of Mwanza Region, Tanzania, face significant vulnerabilities, including high unemployment, limited access to quality education, and dependency on subsistence livelihoods. These challenges disproportionately affect young women and marginalized groups, perpetuating cycles of poverty and social exclusion. This project targets 5,000 vulnerable youth (ages 18–35), with a focus on inclusivity, reaching young women, persons with disabilities, and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. By equipping them with professional, practical, and knowledge-based skills in key sectors such as agribusiness, commercial fisheries, technology, and entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to foster economic self-reliance and self-employment opportunities. The approach emphasizes inclusive development by engaging local communities, promoting gender equality, and providing tailored support to address diverse needs. Collaborations with local government, private sector stakeholders, and educational institutions ensure that training is market-driven and accessible to all. Anticipated outcomes include increased youth-led enterprises, enhanced household incomes, and reduced poverty. By addressing vulnerabilities and fostering equitable opportunities, this project contributes to sustainable, inclusive economic growth, aligning with Tanzania’s Vision 2025 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
